An epic stage. ’nuff said.
The wine gets a split decision from us. We actually drank this wine last year to celebrate this same stage, and it’s grown on one of us. We agree that it starts sweet and finishes a bit spicy, but is watery in the mouth in the middle. We differ on how sweet is too sweet and whether the wateriness is a deal-breaker.
The grape is apparently a Jacquere, and we don’t know much about the AOC or the fruit, but searching turns up fun and pithy descriptions. one UK retailer drops this gem:
So enthusiastic is M. Boniface that he runs, glass in hand, from vat to vat. Vin de Savoie is seldom shipped because of the local apres ski demand. Delicious, especially delicate, flowery blend of Alpine grape varieties.
